It’s getting towards the end of our week here in Guatemala, but we’re still moving at full speed ahead. We welcomed two new team members today – Angela and Sam – to do some videography work. Since we’ve been here a few days, word has spread and we’re starting to receive walk-in patients, some of whom have been accommodated.

One of our scheduled patients, Angel Victor Quino Quino, is a 1 year old Guatemalan native who’s family speaks Quiche, was born with cleft lip. Our surgery on Angel was yesterday and he has done great! Here are some before and after photos…

Life of the hard-working people of  San Juan Sacatepequez, Guatemala seems to be continuing as usual, but we of the Free to Smile Foundation doing our best to add to the  hustle and bustle this week. As of now, we’ve finished two full days of surgeries with minimal complications in which Drs. Henry, Claudio and Sinard have successfully completed cleft palate, cleft lip, and hernia surgeries on patients as young as 8 months and as old as 69 years. With the wonderful support of their hopeful and positive families and the Centro de Salud Barbara nurses, all of the patients are recovering well.
